The Punjab Government has officially operationalized the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' (ACAG) housing program, addressing the critical shortage of affordable shelter for lower and middle-income segments. The initiative offers interest-free loans of up to Rs. 1.5 million with zero bank markup to individuals who own a residential plot but lack capital for construction.
Under the scheme criteria, applicants possessing residential land up to 5 marlas in urban areas or up to 10 marlas in rural districts are eligible. The repayment schedule is structured over seven years with monthly repayments capped at approximately Rs. 14,000, ensuring it remains affordable compared to traditional commercial mortgage rates.
Applications are processed digitally through the centralized PITB web portal and verified via NADRA, Land Record Management Information System (LRMIS), and the Bank of Punjab to prevent bureaucratic delays and discretionary allotments.
