Pakistanis can now get documents attested online without visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or its liaison offices, following the launch of a digital attestation system on October 12.

The service covers both general and Apostille attestation, with applicants receiving electronic certificates by email after completing the process and paying the required fee.

According to a ministry circular issued on October 14, the system is available at the ministry in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Gujrat.

Applicants can submit documents electronically through the designated online portal. The system follows a model similar to the Higher Education Commission’s electronic attestation service and is intended to improve convenience, transparency and efficiency.

However, applicants may still be required to appear in person in exceptional cases, depending on the nature of their applications.
